So, the technician came out this morning and found that the cable had been disconnected outside (oh, big surprise, given that the cover was off the cable box the other day. I love my neighborhood!) The old modem is hooked up and running fine. Why the old modem, you ask? Because Time Warner was "very busy" and apparently typing in a new MAC address when they already had one on file was "too much work right now". Really, Time Warner? So, let me get this straight.... I call tech support on Wednesday morning, get told that my equipment is defective, get an appointment FIVE days later and it turns out that a cable outside was disconnected but you won't hook up the BRAND NEW equipment because it's "too much work right now"? I went five days without internet for something that isn't even REMOTELY my fault and you're too busy to type 10-15 digits into a computer? FAIL, TIME WARNER, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!! Thank Goodness I am a packrat and didn't toss the old modem!
Nonetheless, I have internet again and am no longer feeling disconnected from the world. I know my net addiction probably seems pathetic, but we all have our vices. Hopefully I have enough virtues so it all evens out in the end!
Glad to be back, Internetz! I missed you!
